WELCOME TO A NEW ERA AT THE HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT
The Harris County Flood Control District is hiring and we want you to be part of it! With the voter approval of additional funding for maintenance efforts in November 2024, we are embarking on a significant expansion to support the next generation of flood mitigation efforts. This capital and maintenance work will protect lives, strengthen infrastructure, and foster community resilience throughout Harris County.
To deliver on this mission, the Flood Control District is adding approximately 170 new positions and filling 80 existing vacancies. But this effort goes beyond hiring, it’s a strategic investment in the county’s resilience, workforce development, and economic vitality.
SHARED MISSION, STRONGER COMMUNITY
We pride ourselves on being service driven and acting as good stewards on behalf of the residents of Harris County. That’s why we’re launching a collaborative initiative with Community Partner Organizations (CPOs), workforce programs, and community leaders. Our shared goal is to connect skilled workers with stable, well-paying careers in public service while ensuring the Flood Control District has the talent necessary to execute vital flood control projects.

We’re seeking individuals who are eager to grow, contribute, and adapt to the evolving needs of our community, and who are ready to make a difference for the residents of Harris County.

Together, we can strengthen Harris County’s workforce, provide life-changing career opportunities, and build a safer, more resilient community for generations to come.
